What Kind of parent sends a kid to school in the summer.... The summer is for relaxing and gettting away from school for kids, Send her when Summer is over. School are CLOSED in the summer....Well most of them. I think some private schools are open all year long. Sorry I don't have any info about school in the UK, I live in the U.S. Try asking this in Yahoo Answers UK, NOT USA. Maybe that will help. Go all the way down in the Yahoo Answers page where it says Yahoo answers International and click on United Kingdom.

Teenage / School Freedoms - US/UK

Teenage / School Freedoms - US/UK?
Personally familiar with school in Germany, the UK and the US, but it's been many years. Upper middle class suburban. I do remember that in Germany and in the UK (where I'm originally from), there were far more freedoms for teens compared to the US. Specifically, in the US grades 11 and 12, I felt like I was in prison...because it is really is a bit like a prison. The equivalent is upper sixth form or (basically) college in the UK or Germany, and you are basically treated like an adult. Because of this, the teen society is/was very, very different compared to the US. You can guess which I resented, and which I was fine with. Are things any different now? My experience was back in the 80s.

No, things are the same in the US. I agree with you on the freedom part, it's like everything is predetermined for you. People are very immature and quite frankly need to grow up. Most people in my US high school act as if knowledge is poison and confused on what maturity is.

You need to be a bit older, but classroom assistants don't need high qualifications. They just help the teacher.
