Why do public schools in UK discourage (class 2) pupils from cursive writing?
My daughter goes to class 2 in local school. She is actively discouraged by her class teacher from writing in cursive hand. Does someone know why? I always thought good handwriting should a positive.....is it common to all public schools in England

I don't know but my guess is that it's very difficult to read sometimes because a lot of people don't have good handwriting. So often it's just scribbles and is mostly or completely illegible. I work in registration at a university and the registrations forms we receive that people have mailed in are terrible! This includes those from senior citizens taking community ed, older people coming back to school right thru those just out of high school. Across the board, people just do not write well. I love online registrations!
