Pharmacy school in the UK from a Canadian high school?
Hey, I'm currently in grade 10 in Canada, but I want to go to the UK for university..most likely for pharmacy school. When I began looking up universities in the UK, I was kind of confused.. For example, if I want to do pharmacy school in the UK, do i go straight into it from high school? How many years in total would it take if i was to become a pharmacist in the UK straight out of high school? Any help or information would be appreciated! Thank you in advance! =]

Yes... You may get into Pharmacy school in Uk directly from a canadian high school. Some Uk university look for 68% in chemistry and one more science course, while others look for 80-90%.... and its a 4 yr course with 1 yr of internship. But please keep in mind. Pharmacy school in Uk is very expensive, its about 150 000 dollar (school fees, living, travel, food for 4 yrs) . If your family is with high income, you may go. thats amount is a credit line of medical doctor in canada. If your parents are willing to spend money on you for fun, then yea sure. Also, after finishing your course in Uk... you need to go through a lot of process to get your degree transfer to canada. Examination fees ($2000), exam, permit + permit fees. Province exam as well... (IF), you passed those exam then you may work in canada. Also the salary of pharmacist is about $90 000 - $100 000 in canada, but in uk its $54000(thats if ur a professional pharmacist.) Annual Income * Newly qualified pharmacists can expect to earn between £19,200 and £25,000 ($24 000 - $38000) * Experienced pharmacists can expect to earn around £35,000 * Specialists and consultants can earn between £35,000 and 63000 (specialist is if you passed with first class honor, and go do doctorate degree in pharmacy, then you can expect $54000 - $90000) still our canadian salary is double, as you finish pharmacy school in canada, you earning is $90000, with just master of pharmacy. but in uk, you need to pass M.pharmacy with honors, then doctorate to earn $90 000 . Master of pharmacy - 4 yrs with 1 yr internship. Doctor of pharmacy - 1-2 yrs. The same way, we dont take international students for medical studies in canada, we give priority to canadian citizen and PR; am sure your smart to understand, in term of job outlook, we may not give priority for an international degree, than a canadian degree. Hope thats help :)
