No, I'm sure there are schools that don't require uniforms.

Virtually. All public schools that I'm aware of you have to. The littler kids sometimes don't wear uniforms, but that's in more of a daycare setting I suppose... Let's just say I haven't seen a school without uniforms.

Summer School Holidays In UK

Summer School Holidays In UK?
At the mo in the UK the kids are off on their school holidays. (And I bet their mums are lovin every minute) Now the length of this holiday is six weeks. Ever since I was at school it has always been six weeks. But why do they always have six weeks? I asked this question some years ago and I was told that it goes back to the wartime years. At this time they needed all the manpower for working in the fields for harvesting etc. So they extended the summer school holidays to cater for this. Is this true? Or can anybody give me a better answer? Thank you

yeah i've heard that too but i just think it's so it fits the holiday requirements in the uk. but at my school (a private school) we get 8 weeks at summer and 3weeks at easter and at christmas aswell as half terms. BUT we start school at 8.30am and finish and 5.30pm (buses leave at 5.40 and i get home at 6.15-30) and we only have a 40 minute lunch and 20 minute brake in the morning- which means the schools day is longer than most adult working days may i add!!!!!! but at my brothers schoold , where they start at 9 have towo 15 minute brakes throughout the day and ahve a 1.5hour lunch brkae and finish at 3pm they only get 4 weeks off at sumemr and the usual xmas , easter and half term holidays. so i think it just depends on what type of achool you go to and where it is.

Performing arts Boarding Schools in the Uk

Performing arts Boarding Schools in the Uk?
I'm in third year in Ireland, doing my junior cert this year. I want to go to a performing arts boarding school in the UK for a year next year, as 4th year is not important. Is it possible to go to any of these schools for just a year? If so, are there any you would advise? And is there any that don't cost like รข‚¬15,000? I don't really understand the English education system so would i go to high school in what year or what?

The Royal Alexandra and Albert School could be an option. They provide college-bound students with a smaller, college-preparatory education, along with the kind of immersion in their craft that they wouldn't get in a traditional high school. Their main focus is to prepare students for an arts education at top-tier colleges and make them competitive for the scholarships that those colleges may offer their exceptional applicants. Good luck.

Ask his teacher/head teacher. He can't be the only one wanting to go. They should know. If they don't, call the schools that he might like to enroll for.

UK Business School London School of Economics

UK Business School London School of Economics?
I have an interest in Finance/Banking, and would like to study an undergraduate degree in this area in the uk. The college that has really caught my attention thus far is the LSE. I'm 21 and from Ireland. I finished in the top 8% in the country in my leaving certificate (equivalent to the GCSE). I also have recently completed a BSc in Structural Engineering from University College Dublin, achieving a GPA of 3.4 (2.1 honours degree). What are my chances of getting accepted into LSE? What other Universities/Colleges should I apply to in the UK?

You should be alright there. You might want to look at UCL, Bath and Warwick (MORSE course).

Can I apply to universities in both the US and UK

Can I apply to universities in both the US and UK?
My scenario is... Okay, so usually the UC's in California where I live mail acceptance/rejection letters by April or so. They want you to tell them yes/no if you're going to go to their school by May or so. The problem is.. the UK, I THINK, sends back letters in June? You can see my problem, right? I want to be able to look at my options; not choose one place over the other. If I don't get accepted to any schools in the UK, I still want to know I can go to a school in the US.. So basically, does anyone know anything about this? When do the schools in the UK send back letters? Do they send them back early if you apply early? Gosh, this sucks.

no problem as long as money doesn't change hands...accept the california position and if a uk position that is better is offered...cancel the california position (they have cancellations all the time).... if money (deposit) is required...that's a different story
2 :
Yes, you'll probably have to send in a deposit that you would lose if you cancelled out on the UC place. The other option is that you could just apply to UK schools (if that's your first choice), and if it doesn't work out, take a year off or go to a community college for a year.
