My school takes a trip to South Africa every year?
Yes, well i live in the UK. My school recently made a connection with a school in South Africa, my question is.. What do you think the chances of the school getting caught up in crime? For example, a car jacking or mugging? I personally don't care if anything like that was to happen, after all they always pick the self righteous little teachers pets to go, most of them probably don't even know where South Africa is! (No Joke) Just wondering.. They are going next year. They are going to Cape Town.

It depends on where the school is situated. If it is an English school in the southern suburbs like SACS or Bishops you guys will be fine. The same goes for Afrikaans schools in the Boland like Paul Roos or Paarl Boys High. If the school is in a township or on the Cape Flats, it is however a completely different story. Nyanga has on of the highest murder rates in South Africa and Manenberg is renowned for its gangsterism problem. If the school is in an area like Langa, Hanover Park, Gugulethu, Khayelitsha, Manenberg, Nyanga or Mitchell's Plain, your school will need the help of the locals to make sure they stay safe.

What is the most prestigious and best girls/co-ed boarding school in England

What is the most prestigious and best girls/co-ed boarding school in England?
I am trying to find out which is the top boarding school in the UK for girls. I know for boys it's probably Eton, but there doesn't seem to anything of the same league for girls out there. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Try Wycombe Abbey in High Wycobe just outside London.I don't know if its the best but it came highly recommended and expensive when i was looking for schools for my nieces.

How can I succeed in school

How can I succeed in school?
I am in secondary school in the UK. Year 9 to be exact. So far I have been a so-so student but I lacked motivation. I have decided that I want to study classical history and archeology at university, Preferably somewhere such as Oxford although I understand it is very difficult to get into Oxford but I am up for hard work. As I said I lack motivation and was wondering if you have any study tips or ways to help me succeed in my school. I am already in a top set class. Thanks.

can i transfer from and american high school to a british boarding school as a junior?
I'm just starting my sophomore year in high school in America and I'm considering going to a boarding school in the UK, but I've been looking stuff up online and found out there are certain tests and preparations for exams that usually start earlier than your junior year and I'm wondering if I have to do anything, like take special tests, to transfer.

No you don't. Americans are smarter.

I wouldn't. I mean from a purely academic perspective I came from a New Zealand private school on a british curriculum and I went into 7th grade here. It was really different, Maths is weird, i had heaps to catch up on and in other stuff i was years ahead. It's not that fun being the foreign kid and you'll be living it everyday in boarding school. I mean if you hate your school why don't you transfer to a US boarding school. There are tests you have to take (I cant remember what they are) and you have you have a guardian in the country/area.. Sorry, I know this doesnt really answer your question,I just thought I'd warn you. PS. This is assuming your american and been schooled in US your whole life.

Can I work as an English teacher in UK with a 2:1 Bachelors degree?
I am Greek. I would like to know if there is any possibilty that I could work in a primary school in the UK with a 2:1 Bachelors in English Literature? Any foreigners who work as teachers in the UK, please share your experience! Is it easy to be a teacher there? What is the application procedure? What are the requisites? Should I forget about it? Only sensible answers please. Thanks!

You'd need to complete your teacher training to teach in UK schools. You are qualified enough to become a trainee teacher. There are routes through unqualified teaching but these are uncommon. How does a degree from the US translate to the UK?
I am on the verge of graduating and am toying with the idea of working or attending graduate school in the UK. What do employers and universities think about American degrees? I'm an American citizen, why would it be hard for me to get a permit to work in the UK?

First, are you an American or British citizen? If American, it may be difficult to get a work visa to live in the UK. From my experience, American degrees are respected as long as they come from reputable schools and the person has a decent GPA. Many UK jobs ask for a candidate's GPA, which doesn't happen in the States as far as I know.
